Finding inspiration in the NHS is easy, if you know where to look
Such is the nature of hierarchy that when it comes to trying to find solutions within an organisation, more often than not, permission is sought from those on a higher pay grade. The higher up the organisational ladder, the more value we seem to equate to the answers that can be found. But what if we were to cast the net wider? Healthcare Support Worker, Yusuf Yousuf shares his experiences as a hospital porter to demonstrate how building relationships and strengthening connections across his NHS organisation – clinical and non-clinical – has helped to bring the highest level of knowledge, skills and care to patients, and supported staff collaboration. This includes the introduction of RCTs – Randomised Coffee Trials – which bring together two colleagues, separated by department and professional discipline – to share and discuss their experiences and learn from each other.
