Leanna Luxton

Leanna Luxton shares her personal growth journey from well researched and learned practitioner to critical friend to her patients. Asking her patients ‘if you reach these goals, will it be enough?’, Leanna learnt to change her practice alongside her patients, adapting her tools and plans away from what she had been traditionally taught. Learning that it’s not enough to lift a cup and putting it down. Living means being able to raise a toast at your child’s wedding.

Do healthcare professionals always know best?

Leanna is the Community Stroke Team Lead for Northamptonshire and the Programme Manager for the NHS England Stroke Rehabilitation Pilot Programme.  Over the last 15 years, Leanna has worked as a physiotherapist in large teaching hospitals, specialising in stroke rehabilitation.

Her interests include developing true patient-centred care and provision, service development and leading large-scale complex change projects, role-modelling leading with compassion and collaboration, and she is an active co-chair of the Northampton General Hospital Race, Equality and Cultural Heritage Network.
