When art met science: a life saving story

Nakul is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. He specialises in major reconstructive surgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and cosmetic surgery. He is also a Trustee for LOROS hospice which supports terminally ill patients.  

Nakul is passionate about innovation in the medical field and being at the forefront of new techniques, materials and technologies that improve patient care. He is the author of two medical textbooks, three book chapters and is currently writing ‘Core Surgical Procedures at a Glance: Plastic Surgery’,  to help train junior plastic surgeons.  

His enthusiasm has led him to be the Co-Lead for Innovation for the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), as well as a NHS Clinical Entrepreneur with NHS England, gaining numerous prizes for research papers and innovations.
