The team

Our events couldn’t happen without our family of volunteers who give their time, energy and enthusiasm in bounds.

Alexandra Close

Organisation Co-Lead

Alex is the Programme Manager for the Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA), an NHS charity dedicated to preventing suicide. She has led on a number of national initiatives including launching the award winning “Between the Lines” campaign with Help for Heroes, which aimed to support veterans and their families.

Her favourite thing about TEDxNHS is when she see someone who started as a nervous wreck flourish into a top draw public speaker. She may have a few tears of pride during the event!

Kate Morrissey

Organisation Co-Lead

Kate is the National Implementation of the new RECONNECT and Enhanced RECONNECT services, focussing on pathways of care out of custodial settings. She is also the lead portfolio holder for Immigration Removal Centres in England

With significant experience in the commissioning and performance management of high-value Public Health and NHS contracts, both in the community and within prison and immigration removal settings.  Kate has also set up and delivered the Inclusive Workforce Programme for NHS England.

Dr Fola Yusuff

Curation Lead

Dr Adefolake ‘Fola’ Yusuff is a General Practitioner with extended role in Adult Allergy. She is the Educational Lead for British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) primary care committee.

Due to her interest in public speaking, Fola has been through extensive coaching on storytelling and public speaking. She has spoken on stage and online on topics relating to Entrepreneurship and  Property Investing.

She is a wife, and mother of two boys. In her free time she likes to read self development books, swim with her family and travel.

Mark Biddle

Comms Co-Lead

Mark is an experienced communications professional who has worked in a number of public sector organisations, including local authorities, housing associations, and healthcare.

He has worked predominantly in digital communications roles, leading on the development of websites and developing social media strategies.

Mark is currently Corporate Communications Lead at UCLPartners, a health innovation partnership with a mission to help five million people from North London to the Essex coast live longer, healthier lives.

Michael Buggle

Comms Co-Lead

Michael is joint communications lead for TEDxNHS 2023. Together with Mark, Michael plans and creates all digital content you see on the TEDxNHS channels to help amplify the untold stories of colleagues that bravely take the stage each year.

In his day job, Michael is a Communications Officer and comms lead for the Homeless Health London Partnership and the Fast Track Cities London HIV initiative. He works for Transformation Partners in Health and Care, an NHS consultancy and improvement programme agency.

Hamzah Hamid

Logistics Co-Lead

Hamzah is an Implementation Manager in the Getting It Right First Time team (GIRFT) within the Transformation Directorate – NHS England, focussing on optimising patient pathways in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness in Trusts.

Hamzah has worked for the NHS for over 8 years across 5 organisations, with experience in commissioning, HR, finance, operational management, and transformation.

Rachael Scoley

Logistics Co-Lead

Rachael is currently working with the In-hospital Team within the Integrated Urgent and Emergency Care (iUEC) Directorate at NHS England.  Rachael feels honoured to be working with such an amazing team of people who are committed to making a difference to patients experiencing urgent care services in hospital.  Rachael is delighted to be volunteering with the TEDxNHS Team to support the sharing of learning across the NHS.
